Jeremy Strong plays James Reeb in the movie Selma

James Reeb was a Unitarian Universalist minister living in Boston when Martin Luther King, Jr. went to Selma. He was already a member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference when he traveled to Selma to join King after the events of Bloody Sunday. On March 9, 1965, Reeb and two other men were attacked by three white men with clubs after eating at an integrated restaurant in Selma. Reeb died two days later, and was memorialized by both King and President Lyndon B. Johnson.
