There’s been quite a bit of buzz this past week about actor Johnny Depp and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards being spotted out together at an L.A. restaurant.
The long-time friends and one-time “Pirates of the Caribbean” cast mates were out to dinner with Depp’s new girlfriend Amber Heard, according to US Weekly.
What could be better than a legendary musician and a silver screen rock star? How about the Rocker frames from the Old Focals Collector’s Choice selection that Depp was wearing?
Depp is no stranger to Old Focals eyewear. From sporting vintage glasses in films such as “The Rum Diary,” and “Public Enemies” (among many other titles) to his personal stash of vintage specs, Depp’s Old Focals ties run deep.
For more than 20 years Old Focals has been involved with Depp’s film projects with founder Russ Campbell providing eyewear that is historically accurate and sets a distinctive look for the film.
From the red carpet to his day-to-day life, Depp’s collection of Tart Arnels have been well documented and he has become one of Old Focals’s more recognizable customers.
Campbell and Depp recently ran into one another and during the chance encounter exchanged mutual
admiration.
“I told him, ‘You basically helped put my nephew through college,'” Campbell said. “He said, ‘I love you, man,’ and gave me a big hug.”
Campbell sent Depp the Rockers on Monday, May 20, just two days before the actor was spotted wearing them around town.
The Rockers are from Russ’ signature line of frames, the Collector’s Choice, and are modeled after the frames worn by the rock stars of the 1950s such as Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison.
